Elderberry may be a remedy for conditions such as colds, coughs, and flu. Recently it has been found to contain viburnic acid which is a substance that induces perspiration. This is useful in cases of bronchitis.

It is known as a fever reducer, blood purifier, and cell cleanser. It is used as a sedative for the relief of pain.

Elderberry is the berry of the black elder tree (Sambucus nigra). Its constituents may strengthen the body's immune system. Elderberries contain bioflavonoids and anthocyanins, which positively influence cell function.
