What does GMP mean?
Good Manufacturing Practices. GMP certification means that the site and methods employed in the production of our herbs have been subject to a thorough quality control investigation and is certified to be in compliance. The GMP certification process covers all aspects of manufacturing, including inspection of the buildings and grounds, the air and water purification systems, the handling and processing of raw herbs, the product manufacturing process, the operation and cleaning of equipment, the training of personnel, and quality control testing and documentation. Adherence to guidelines established in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia, formal Manufacturing Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Control Protocols ensures that every batch of product is safe and of the highest quality. These standards are the guidelines upon which our manufacturers base each decision, and allow us to have the confidence to say that our product manufacturers are some of the best herbal product manufacturers not only in China, but also in the world today.
Can I take herbs with my medication?
Due to interaction with medication, please discuss all supplements that you take with your physician.
How should I use the herbs?
There are several ways to take herbs. This link will help to decide which way may be the best. http://www.1stchineseherbs.com/howtouseherbs.htm
What are Teapills? And their benefits?
1 First, Is the main reason.   No brewing or decocting the tea mixture to drink.  The teapills are convenient, and can be easily taken with you, in a purse or pocket
2 Prior to processing, raw herbs are randomly sampled and inspected to ensure that they meet strict quality control criteria before being blended into formulas. The pills are small and easy to swallow. About the size of a pea.  Classic Formulas proven safe and effective.
3 Teapills are made by blending together the herbs in the formula, then slowly cooking the mixture in water. This tea is simmered down into a concentrate, and later formed into small pills. This method is the traditional way that Chinese formulas have been prepared for thousands of years
4 The teapills are combined synergist, to provide optimum effectiveness.
5 Each batch is tested for pesticides in the U.S. and randomly to verify the results for heavy metals and microbacteria. As well as in accordance with  high standards for quality and safety, the teapills are produced at an Australian TGA GMP factory and laboratory tested for contaminants.
6 After the formulas are made into pills, each batch is inspected for consistent shape, color, and texture. Pills that fail this test are destroyed. The moisture content and dissolution rate are also tested; to ensure the full dosage is take.
7 Packaging: 200 pills
Recommended Dosage: 8 teapills, 3 times per day
Unless otherwise noted
8

All are Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
No pharmaceuticals. No heavy metals.
All Teapills are cooked and extracted as a tea.
Sulfur free herbs are used. No preservatives, No Sugars. No Colors.
Formula in teapill form strictly adheres to traditional herbal formula recipes and does not add any hidden pharmaceutical substances, preservatives or colors to the products. Free from Impurities

How much of the herb should I take (dosage)?
You should take the amount that your health care professional states, or what the bottle states.  Each person is different, and you should start off slowly and increase until you reach the amount stated.  Their is a childrens dosage guideline called Clarks Rule written by Mitchell Stoklosa and Howard Ansel.
What is Concentrated Powder?
5:1 Extract Powder Manufacturing
The concentrated liquid used to make our 5:1 extract powders is decocted uses low temperature distillation process.Once decocted, the extracted fluid is piped into a circulating vacuum condenser for further concentration. As many chemical constituents are heat sensitive, heat damage is minimized by evaporation under vacuum to reduce the boiling point to between 70–75 degrees centigrade. Finally, all batches are combined and blended with the essential oils collected during the initial extraction process of making the concentrated liquid.

The concentrated liquid is passed through a fine mesh filter before being spray–dried into extract powder. At this stage, measurements are taken to ascertain if the extract yield has achieved a 5:1 ratio of raw material to finished product. Individual herbs can vary significantly in the amount of physical substance they yield during extraction. Many do not have the needed substance to form a powder as described above, and a carrier such as dextrin is required.

A 20% yield produces a 5:1 ratio, and can continue on to the spray- drying process without the addition of fillers. If the yield is more concentrated (for example, a 10% yield, is technically a 10:1 ratio), this requires “dilution” with inert filler (such as dextrin) to conform to the 5:1 standard.

What is Lab Tested?
Each batch of herbs is dual-lab tested by our in-house lab and independent third party lab. The lab is equipped with instruments such as a high performance liquid chromatograph, moisture determination meter, Fourier transform infrared spectrometer, atomic absorption spectrophotometer, gas chromatograph, etc.

In addition, the following additional tests are performed:

  • Microbacteria
  • Pesticides - over 200 pesticides tested for (Uab 2000 screen).
  • Heavy Metals - Lead, Mercury and Arsenic
Which herbs are Certified Organic?
The Western herbs which are listed on
www.discountnaturalherbs.com are certified organic.
How do I make an Stephania Root Eye Wash?
The instructions are found on this page
http://www.1stchineseherbs.com/stephania_root_eye_wash_for_Lyme_Disease.html
What is the shelf life of the herbs and teapills?
In general terms the self life of herbs is 2 years.  The teapills have an expiration date on the bottle.
What does C/S mean?
C/S mean Cut and Sift.  So the product has uniform pieces.
How to store the herbs and spices?
The herbs and spices, should be stored in a tight glass jar, with a rubber seal, then placed somewhere cool.   Not in the refrigerator, or near any heat source such as an oven, dishwasher, or stove.
What does unsulfured mean?
Sulfur is used to preserve an herb.   98% of our herbs are sulfur free, and do not have any other preservatives.
Are there other ingredients in the concentrated powders?
Dextrin as the excipient in our single herb extracts where necessary. Dextrin can function as a carrier, filler, and drying agent. It is added to the liquid paste before the drying process, bringing the final product in line with the 5:1 ratio to achieve a more stable and uniform dosing standard. The dextrin used is 100% corn based (derived from corn starch) pharmaceutical grade material. Each batch of dextrin is extensively tested prior to use and results must conform to the established standards of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia before it may be used. The amount of dextrin used depends upon the nature of the herb and its natural extraction yield.
Do you carry Resveratrol without Red Wine, for Lyme Disease?
Yes, we carry Source Naturals Resveratrol without red wine, it is highlighted on the lyme disease page for easy viewing.
Why when I buy herbs are they different colors.
The color variation is due to the growing, and drying processes.
Just like with anything that grows their are variations.  For example every year I plant tomatoes, this year they are only the size of golf balls, but are usually the size of oranges.  As for the color, the tomatoes never did get a true red color.
