Using Lavender Essential Oils
Stress Relief:
Lavender has a regulating effect on the nervous system with its balancing and harmonizing nature. Being an adaptogen, it can have a restorative effect in cases of listlessness or weakness, but conversely has a calming effect on hyperactivity or agitation. It's one of the best stress relievers known and also helps with insomnia.

Head Ache Relief:
Lavender can be used in several different ways.  One of the easiest is to apply a few drops to a small ball of cotton, and in hale when a head ache is present.

Bathing with Lavender
:  This mixture can soothe the most stressful day into a peaceful night.
Start the water in the bath, while adding 1 cup of baking soda.  Once the baking soda has dissolved and the water is turned off, add 9 drops of Drops of Pure Lavender Oil.  The warmth of the water will enhance the aroma of the lavender.  Enjoy the bath for at least 1/2 hour.

Massage with Lavender:
This is the most effective method of using the oils, combining their properties with the therapeutic power of touch. The oils should be pure, and then carrier oils are add making for any effortless massage.  The carrier oils should be pure too.   Sweet almond, sesame seed, or olive oil are the most common. The ratio of carrier oil and oils is  approximately 5 drops in two teaspoonful of carrier oil.   Remember these are pure oils, carefully measure the amounts, you can always add more.   As the oils are warmed by the massaging, the aroma becomes even more aromatic.   Again, less is more, so use a little at a time.

How to Make Lavender Wands

Our favorite use for the lavender is the wands.   The instruction are below on how to make a Lavender wand.  We place the wands in the office, in our cars, and even have them in the bathroom.   They are beautiful to look at, but even more delightful to smell.

Materials:
13 or more fresh stems of lavender (any odd number greater than 13)- each at least 12 inches tall  3 yards of satin or other ribbon, 1/4 inches wide. The first time you do this, just relax and don't get frustrated.  I first did this I thought "how can I do this, I need another set of hands. "  I think the first one took me 1 hour, now I can complete on in about 30 minutes.  Patience.  It will be well worth the try, I haven't stopped making them since.  In fact every spring, I watch the lavender daily to pick them when they are full of aroma, and the ideal size.
1. Strip all the leaves from the stem. The suppleness of the stem is important to the success of wand making. Harvest the lavender early in the day, and make sure that the flowers are not damp, the flowers will mold if they are damp.

2. Line up the bottom of the flower heads and tie them gently together with the end of the 3 yards of ribbon. See picture 1.

3. Turn the bundle upside down and gently bend each stem down around the blossom heads. You can facilitate this step by scoring the underside of the stem section that is being bent with your fingernail. When all of the blossoms are "in a cage of stems" the long end of the ribbon should be pulled out of the cage, the short end tucked inside.

4. Line up all of the stems evenly around the blossoms, making sure that they do not overlap. See picture 2.

5. Start to weave the ribbon under and over the stems. Gently pull on the ribbon to make sure the weave is tight. The most difficult part of this process is in the first two rows of the weaving. On the second row you should be going under the stems that you had gone over on the first row. See picture 3.

6. Continue weaving until you have covered all the flowers. You can use a stem of lavender to push any buds that stick out back into the weave or rub them off. Wrap the ribbon around the "neck" of the wand and tie a slip knot.

7. Trim the stems to the same length and continue to wrap the stems until you reach the end. Use a rubber band to secure the ribbon to the end of the stem. After the stem has dried and shrunk, you can rewrap the ribbon and glue the ends.
