Common Name: Comfrey
Botanical Name: Symphytum officinale
Combinations: For inflammation, combine with Marshmallow and Meadowsweet. For chest and lungs, use with Coltsfoot, White Horehound or Elecampane. For wound healing use with Calendula.
 Contradictions: Some cases of liver problems have been reported. Do not overdose.
Function Antipyretic, antitussive, astringent, bitter, cell proliferant, demulcant, expectorant, mucilant, nutritive, styptic, tonic, vulnerary
Method of Use:

Liquid extract, poultice, tincture

Comfrey root may stimulates new cell growth.  In Ancient Greece it was used by the Greeks to stop heavy bleeding and treat bronchial problems. It supports rapid healing and because of this the general rule in Herbology has become "If anything is broken, use Comfrey."

Comfrey may be especially useful for the respiratory system when there is hemorrhaging of the lungs.

As a poultice, comfrey aids in soothing inflammation and can be applied to sore breasts, burns, wounds, swelling, and bursitis.
