Common Name: Horsetail (Shavegrass)
Botanical Name: Equisetum arvense
Combinations: Hydrangea
Contraindications If you have swelling due to a weak heart or kidneys, do not take horsetail. Consult your doctor before using it as a bath additive if you have skin problems or an infectious disease.

Method of Use:

Decoction, poultice, infusion, liquid extract, tincture, compress, bath additive

Horsetail is strongly astringent and has been used for both internal and external wounds. It has been used as a diuretic aiding kidney infection, dropsy, and gravel, and is beneficial to the prostate.

Horsetail helps facilitate the use of calcium in the body. It increases the production of of urine and shrinks inflamed mucus tissue.

Studies have shown that fracture bones will heal much faster when Horsetail is taken.

Be sure to drink plenty of fluids while taking this herb.
