Nettle root is widely used as a first-line therapy for BPH in Germany, where there are 15 pharmaceutical drugs consisting solely of nettle root. Nettle root has been extensively studied in European clinical trials over the past twenty years.[1]
Decrease adenosine deaminase activity in prostate tissue from men
with localized prostate cancer.
Stinging nettle contains beta-sitosterol. Laboratory research
suggests beta-sitosterol might have antiproliferative effects on
the prostate, possibly by inhibiting growth factors. It is not certain which of its constituents are responsible for its therapeutic
action.
Nettle root is also valuable as a source of lignans, a type of phytoestrogens, which have become more and more valued in recent years, and which accounts for its galactogogue property. Nettle root also contains a number of chemical compounds which appear to significantly stimulate the immune system.[8] Nettle Root is also a main component. It helps in blocking two enzymes and 5 alpha
reductase.[9]
