Stressed!
Tired! Restless Nights?
Our
friend Clinton Reynolds wrote this article
below, we hope you enjoy it as much as we
did.
Stress
& its effect upon the nervous system
“Where can disease come from when the
emotional state maintains inner
composure”, this is a quote, indeed, a
philosophy of the ancient physicians of
China. Our emotions play a vital role in
our health, indeed, it plays a compulsory
role! In order to establish good health,
we must by necessity keep our emotions in
check. According to ancient Chinese
herbalists/physicians, excessive emotions
impair the internal organs of the human
body; anger hurts the liver; joy hurts the
heart; brooding hurts the spleen and
melancholy hurts the lungs. The reverse of
this is also true, in that if you have an
impairment of any of these organs it can
lead to emotional maladies. While
emotional responses to various situations
are spontaneous and beyond our control,
the ability to return to equanimity is a
skill that can be mastered, indeed, it must
be mastered, for the sake of good health.
In order to be able to do this, the
framework of our nervous system must be
robust and vibrant. A simple analogy is
that of the shock absorber on a car, if
you have a car with good shock absorbers
it is able to dampen the stress on the
body of potholes and bumps in the road, if
the shock absorbers are not in good
condition or are of cheap quality then
your body will feel the effects of the
road stress when the car goes over bumps
and potholes. Establishing a strong
network of the nervous system will enable
us to withstand the potholes of everyday
life. How does one establish such a robust
and vibrant network of the nervous system?
Mother Nature has provided us with an
abundance of herbs for the nourishment of
our nerves. When we have a very strong and
robust nervous and circulatory system, it
is difficult for disease to penetrate our
inner barrier. Therefore it is imperative
that we seek to strengthen our nervous and
circulatory system as the first line of
defense against any sickness or disease.
All health and healing comes from the
Creator and as herbalist, medical
practitioners, manufacturers of health
products, we must acknowledge the Divine
source of all healing. He has
provided all that we need, Mother
Nature’s medicine chest has everything
for us, and He knows what our ailments are
even before we become afflicted with them.
Herbs are magical, as they operate on a
vibratory level; they provide the bridge
between the physical and the spiritual
space. Herbs possess the power to
transform; to tranquilize the mind; to
strengthen the heart; to purge the bowels;
to drain the liver; to strengthen the
nerves; to heal internal wounds; to
nourish the blood; to enliven the brain
and improve memory; to strengthen the
eyes; indeed even to restore sight; to
shrink tumors and other wondrous healing
qualities.
Herbs that provide vital nourishment for
the nervous system are abundant in Mother
Natures medicine chest, herbs such as Damiana
herb,
Kava Kava, St. Johns wort, Motherwort,
American skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora),
Vervain, Graviola (sour sop leaf),
Alfalfa, Gastrodia
rhizome (tian
ma), Licorice
root,
Valerian
root. There are many more mild
and potent herbs that are available in
nature for use on the nervous system.
